The library of SMMU moves into the new building in Apri1999 , which overs an floor area over 11,000 square meters and has a collection of over 500 thousand book volumes, mainly related to military medicine science. It subscribes near 5000 kinds of Chinese and foreign periodicals, 13 kinds of abstract journals and 5 large full-text databases to which readers may access online. The library provides various services, including reading, consultation, information retrieval, literature evaluation of scientific achievements, microform copying, audiovisual data, bookbinding, and interlibrary loan, among others, and undertakes the course Retrieval and Use of Medical Information
